Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s Community Economic Development Team provides legal services to non-profit organizations that primarily serve low-income communities. Their services include preparing and filing articles of incorporation, drafting corporate bylaws, and preparing and submitting applications for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Form 1023).
In addition, they provide guidance on corporate governance, Board development, and non-profit taxation through advisory services, educational trainings, workshops, and Board presentations. They also negotiate and draft contracts and offer general legal counsel commonly provided by trusted business advisors to non-profit organizations.
