Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio’s Community Economic Development Team provides legal services to nonprofit organizations that primarily serve low income communities. Their services include preparing and filing articles of incorporation, drafting corporate bylaws, and preparing and submitting applications for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Form 1023).
In addition, they provide guidance on corporate governance, Board development, and nonprofit taxation through advisory services, educational trainings, workshops, and Board presentations. They also negotiate and draft contracts and offer general legal counsel commonly provided by trusted business advisors to nonprofit organizations.
